Camlin's TBHQ (Antox)-The most effective choice for vegetable oils
- TBHQ gives excellent antioxidant potency to edible oils and fats.
- Minimises nutritional losses in edible oils.
- Maintains freshness and quality of crude oils during long distance transportation.
- Broadens the range of oils in food processing.
- Offers carry through protection to fried foods, thus enhancing their storage life and freshness.
- Facilitates use of saturated oils, thus preventing excess level of cholesterol in oils and fats.
TBHQ Superior to Other Synthetic & Natural Antioxidants
Vegetable oils differ markedly in their inherent oxidative stability, susceptibility to oxidation and response to different antioxidants. But generally, polyhydroxy antioxidants such as TBHQ and Propyl Gallate are most effective, while sterically hindered phenols such as BHA and BHT are relatively ineffective. TBHQ has an advantage over Propyl Gallate that unlike Propyl Gallate, it is not prone to discolouration in the presence of iron. |
Tocopherol, a natural antioxidant present in vegetable oils also functions as an antioxidant. This "natural" antioxidant effect is often inadequate and synthetic antioxidants are added to fill stability needs. Also addition of natural antioxidants such as Tocopherol usually provides little or no increase in oxidative stability of vegetable oils. |
